The USGS reported that the 1.0-magnitude earthquake happened near Wanaque in Passaic County around 10 p.m., but the effects could be felt through North Jersey.

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York, reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 3.5 miles.
