Small Earthquake Felt In New Jersey

New Jersey felt the shakes of a small earthquake late Monday, the United States Geological Survey has confirmed.

The USGS reported that the 1.0-magnitude earthquake happened near Wanaque in Passaic County around 10 p.m., but the effects could be felt through North Jersey.

The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York, reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 3.5 miles.

News 12 reported receiving calls from Morris and Passaic county residents who felt the earthquake, but the impact of the event was not immediately known Tuesday morning.
