'Dangerous' Snow Squall Warning In 6 NJ Counties, With Snow Expected Throughout State

A snow squall hit Trenton on Monday afternoon. Scattered snow could move through the state, according to forecasters.

NEW JERSEY — A "dangerous snow squall could hit western New Jersey on Monday afternoon. Parts of the state could see scattered snowstorms through the early evening," according to the National Weather Service.

The agency detected the squall at about 1 p.m. Monday over Trenton. The National Weather Service placed areas in six counties under a snow squall warning: north central Ocean County, southeastern Hunterdon County, southern Somerset County, central Monmouth County and all of Middlesex County.

Forecasters last tracked the snow squall at 1:45 p.m. Monday over Plainsboro Center in Middlesex County.

Reduce your speed turn on headlights when driving, the National Weather Service said. The visibility could drop to near-zero or whiteout conditions. Wet roadways will quickly freeze, the agency said.

New Jersey could see "locally heavy" snow showers Monday afternoon and early evening, according to forecasters.
