
Two high school seniors fulfilled their dreams recently when they signed letters of intent to play softball at the collegiate level.
Niki Carillo and Lyndsey Lichtenberger from Wayne Valley High School signed letters of intent last week.
Carillo will attend St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Lichtenberger will play for Queens College, part of the City University of New York.

“This has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little kid,” said Carillo, a pitcher. “I’m a big fan of Jennie Finch.”
Finch helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Lichtenberger will play at third base when she takes the field in college. She currently playing left field for the Indians.
“For me, it’s all about the team,” she said. “If being in left field will help us win the most, that’s what I want to do.”
Coach Aurora Dudley-Schneider spoke highly of the girls.
“It’s just a huge accomplishment. After all their loyalty to the game of softball and to their team, it’s something to really be proud of,” she said. “They have both worked very hard and are determined to succeed. We couldn’t be prouder of them.”
