Special School Budget Meeting to be Held Thursday

There will be a special public meeting Thursday on the school district’s budget for the 2014-15 school year.

Officials will present information on the pending budget and solicit input from residents. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Wayne Hills High School auditorium.

Similar meetings were held last year. Only a few dozen residents attended each one.

The average homeowners’ school taxes increased $164 last year. The tax levy, the portion of the budget raised by local taxes was $130.4 million. The total budget was $141 million.

The average homeowner paid $5,866 in school taxes last year, a 2.5 percent increase from the previous year.
