Spirit Halloween Opens In Wayne For 2023 'Spooky Season'

Although it is still September, Halloween will be here before you know it. That means Spirit Halloween locations are popping up in the area.

For many people, the Halloween season does not not begin until they visit one of the ever-reliable Spirit Halloween locations and load up on ghastly house decor or costume essentials.

WAYNE, NJ — Though it is still September, big fans of autumn and the upcoming "spooky season" might be excited to know that a Spirit Halloween has risen up in a former clothing store in Wayne.

For many people, the Halloween season does not not begin until they visit one of the ever-reliable Spirit Halloween locations and load up on ghastly house decor or costume essentials.

The seasonal pop-up shop, which sells plastic vampire fangs, wigs, fake blood, costumes, and a variety of frightening interior and outdoor decorations, has opened a shop in Wayne as of Sept. 11.

Halloween is on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023.

Because Spirit Halloween is a franchise with thousands of independently run locations across the country, there is no official company-wide "opening day." Each fall, the seasonal store brand secures short-term leases at vacant spaces, leasing from mid-July to early November.

The Wayne location is at the former Mandee, at 1246 Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne (07470). Hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Locations in Clifton (the former Unclaimed Freight at 1030 U.S. 46) and Totowa (the former Marshalls at 545 US Highway 46) are expected to open later this September, according to the company website.

In addition to classic costumes, the stores will offer new licensed merchandise from Barbie, Fall Guys, Harry Potter, Universal Monsters, DC Villains, Poppy Playtime, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Wednesday and Mars Attacks!. The company is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

"Whether you’re the person who preps for Halloween months in advance or you’re a last-minute shopper, Spirit has all of your costume and decoration needs covered with our endless selection of popular licenses," the store's website wrote.
