Students Create Culinary Delights for Competition (Video)

Young chefs get creative in the kitchen for annual event.

Students showed what they could do with a little creativity and some skill with a soupspoon at the fifth annual Student Culinary Competition at Wayne Hills High School Wednesday.

Nine teams of students served hundreds of attendees everything from shrimp and okra gumbo and French onion soup to butternut squash ravioli and Nutella pizza. Teams also had to develop and implement a marketing plan.

Proceeds from the competition fund a consumer science scholarship that is awarded to a graduating senior who has an interest in moving forward within that field after high school. About $4,000 was donated this year; a similar amount was taken in at the Wayne Valley competition earlier this year.
