Suzanne Pudup Hangs On To Win Wayne Board Of Ed. Seat

A recount effort launches by Cheryl Gambuti shows she lost by four votes.

WAYNE, N.J. — A recount effort by board of education candidate Cheryl Gambuti showed that she lost her bid for the seat by four votes.

Gambuti filed a petition for a recount Nov. 23 and the votes were counted earlier this week. Suzanne Pudup was leading Gambuti by five votes.

Gambuti picked up three mail-in votes and Pudup picked two provisional votes as a result of the recount by the Passaic County Clerk's Office.

Pudup received the most number of votes as of Election Day, but the addition of mail-in ballots pushed Gambuti ahead of her by nine votes. Then overseas ballots were counted, which put Pudup ahead by five.
