Teen Cyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run: Passaic Co. Officials

Officials are looking for a driver whom they say caused fatal injuries to a 17-year-old cyclist, and injured another teen.

PATERSON, NJ — Officials said a teenage cyclist died after being struck by a driver, who hit two other teens before reportedly fleeing the scene early Wednesday morning.

The driver hit the 17-year-old girl and two other teens near the intersection of 17th Avenue and East 33rd Street around 3 a.m., according to a report by NJ Advance Media.

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has not announced any arrests as of 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, as the investigation continues.

The unidentified teen arrived at St. Joseph's University Hospital in a private car, the reports said. Medical staff later pronounced her dead. Officials did not release a vehicle description, or identify the victim.

A 16-year-old was injured in the crash and had a broken foot, according to a report from the Paterson Press. A third teen was also hit, but did not require treatment.
