Time For Kids To Unmask? Many Wayne Parents Say They're Ready
Many Wayne parents say they're OK with their kids not wearing masks in school come March 7. Some wish they could take off the masks sooner.
WAYNE, NJ — March 7 can't come soon enough for many Wayne parents. That's when New Jersey will drop its mask mandate for K-12 schools, and face coverings will become optional in Wayne Public Schools.
Wayne Patch asked parents whether they'll let their children attend school without a mask when they become optional. Many respondees wished they could do it sooner.
"My kids will not be wearing them. But will support anyone who chooses to continue to wear them," one parent said. "Let's not allow mask or no mask divided us even more."

"Yes! 100%," said another. "They are not wearing masks playing basketball with teams from all over NJ and they never did."
"Why wait until 3/7?" one commenter said. "Is there another surge we don’t know about?"

But others will continue to have their children mask up at school.
"My children are too little to be vaccinated," a parent said. "I’m scared what March 7th will bring. They will continue to wear masks. If I could pull them from school I would, but it isn’t possible for us. I’m so scared."
With the state mask mandate for K-12 schools ending, people who choose to wear masks may continue to do so. Schools will receive updated guidance from the New Jersey Department of Health. Read more: Schools Can Extend Mask Mandate, But NJ Requirement Ends In March
