Toys 'R' Us Opening New Times Square Store

The 3-floor store is scheduled to open this month and stay open throughout the holiday shopping season.

WAYNE, NJ — Toys "R" Us will open a temporary three-story store in Times Square in New York City later on this month for the holiday shopping season.

The 35,000-square-foot store will be at the corner of 42nd Street and Broadway in the historic Knickerbocker building.

The store marks the world's biggest toy retailer's return to Times Square nearly two years after it shuttered its former flagship storethere in December 2015.

“The Times Square holiday shop reunites our brand with an iconic New York destination which we are thrilled about," Toys "R" Us Chairman and CEO Dave Brandon said in a news release the Wayne-based company issued Thursday.

The three-level store will have one entrance on Broadway and include a selection of toys and electronics on the first floor, transportation models and toys on its lower level and an assortment of games and learning toys on its second level.

There will be a dedicated play space for kids and a animatronic dinosaur on the second level.
