Jobbers-Miller continues to fight for his life following the shooting, Fort Myers Police said Tuesday. He remains in "critical, but stable" condition.
Jobbers-Miller responded to a Fort Myers, Florida gas station on a report that Desmaret allegedly stole a cell phone from a group of young men. Desmaret fled the scene, but Jobbers-Miller chased after him on foot and was shot, police said.
As of Wednesday night, more than $44,000 has been donated to an online fundraiser organized Fort Myers police for Jobbers-Miller's family.
