WATCH: Flyover Of Wyckoff Man's 180,000-Christmas Lights Display

Jerry Ghinelli spent 6 months decorating his property with Christmas lights. His neighbor created a video of the property using a drone.

WYCKOFF, NJ — This year there are 180,000 Christmas lights brightening up Jerry Ghinelli's Zabriskie Pond home — about 30,000 more than last year.

Each year Ghinelli's refines the design and adds a little more creative flair to the display. He has done it for 12 years.

"My kids were worried Santa would not be able to find us so we put up a lot of lights," Ghinelli said. "I start in June and do it myself. It's a hobby really."

Ghinelli used to hire someone to do the work, but it got too expensive. The equipment costs about $10,000 and the electricity about $500 a month.

"A lot of people look forward to it every year," Ghinelli said.

Ghinelli collaborated with his neighbor Barry Houldsworth, who filmed the property using a drone. Houldsworth started a company called Avios Aerial Media in August of 2016. He has filmed several local properties, including golf courses, with drones for a few years. He filmed Ghinelli's property last year too.

Houldsworth and Ghinelli used the footage, some stock footage of Santa and music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, to create a different video than the one made last year.

"We wanted to do something different," Houldsworth said. "It was a lot of fun and we had a great time creating it."
