Michael Andriulli, principal, Albert Payson Terhune Elementary School
Andriulli hopes to create opportunities that will empower children to be learners, thinkers, questioners, problem-solvers and global citizens, Toback said. He wants to foster a love of learning that will continue to grow as students continue their educational careers.
"He firmly believes in the importance of preparing students to thrive academically, socially and emotionally," Toback said.
Andriulli earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Rowan University from Rowan University and two master's degrees from Ramapo College.
He was supervisor of curriculum, instruction and assessment for the Hillsdale Public School District for two years. Prior to that job he was an elementary school teacher for seven years and a middle school math teacher for seven.
Heather Weinstein, assistant principal, Schuyler Colfax Middle School
Weinstein has been a teacher at Pines Lake Elementary School for 13 years where she taught 3rd and 5th grades. She also wrote the district's language arts and social studies curriculums. She also facilitated the elementary mentor program for new teachers at the Wayne Township Learning Center.
Before becoming a teacher Weinstein worked in sales management and administration for 10 years. She earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Rutgers University, a master's degree in teaching from New Jersey City University and a post master's principalship certification from Caldwell University.
Weinstein hopes to work with colleagues to create a dynamic and engaging school culture that provides opportunities for students to grow socially, academically, emotionally and creatively, while fostering a climate of tolerance and acceptance.
Daisy Ayala, business administrator/board secretary
Ayala is the business administrator for the Paterson Public School District. She oversees the district's $500 budget.
Throughout her 10-year tenure she created and implemented strategies that more than doubled the district's management and compliance score.
Under her leadership in 2015, the State Board of Education announced it would permit local control of the district's finances after the state oversaw them for nearly 25 years.
Ayala was recognized by the National Association of Professional Women as Businesswoman of the Year.
"We are fortunate to have excellent candidates to fill such important positions," said Superintendent Mark Toback. "The candidates all have something in common. They have a history of holding themselves to the highest professional standards and they all have great work experiences that will benefit our school system."
