Wayne Board Promotes From Within To Fill Assistant Superintendent Position

Toni Liskiewicz had been the district director of secondary education and principal of Lafayette Elementary School prior to her appointment.

WAYNE, NJ — District officials decided to promote from within to fill the assistant superintendent vacancy Wednesday.

The Board of Education appointed Toni Liskiewicz to the position Wednesday. Her first day on the job was Thursday.

Prior to her appointment, Liskiewicz had been the director of secondary education for nearly two years. She was principal of Lafayette Elementary School from the summer of 2012 until September 2014. Before that, she was principal of two elementary schools, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Superintendent Mark Toback said Liskiewicz was the driving force behind the district's new math program and helped prep everyone for the Next Generation Science Standards. She also helped revised the new teachers mentoring program.

"She has a proven track record of taking on important projects and responsibilities and delivering an excellent work product," Toback said in a statement. "We are thrilled to see Toni promoted to assistant superintendent."

Liskiewicz also made it possible for high school students to earn college credits by developing partnerships with several local colleges and universities. She's also helped implement new high school electives, including Sports Medicine, War In Literature and Film, Accounting, and College Business, among others.

"She has an educational vision combined with the skills and work ethic necessary to carry out that vision for the benefit of Wayne students," Toback said.
