Wayne Gym Teacher Inappropriately Texted Teen Student, Officials Say
The 39-year-old now faces child endangerment charges.

WAYNE, NJ — A Wayne gym teacher and flag football coach has been arrested after exchanging "inappropriate" messages with a teen student, according to prosecutors.
Rashid Darrisaw, 39, of Haledon, was arrested last week following an investigation by the Passaic County Special Victims Unit.
Darrisaw, a gym teacher and flag football coach at DePaul Catholic High School, was found to be exchanging inappropriate electronic messages with his 15-year-old student last month, police said.

Officials did not provide specifics on the alleged inappropriate messages, but the charges filed in this case indicate they were sexual in nature.
Following the investigation, Darrisaw was arrested in Haledon on March 27 and charged with endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct.

He was released on pre-trial monitoring the following day.
If convicted, Darrisaw could spend up to ten years in prison.
