Wayne High School Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

Two Wayne high school students have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.

About 16,000 high school students nationwide have earned semifinalist status. They include the highest scoring Preliminary SAT takers in each state. They qualified for the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT.

About 15,000 of the semifinalists are expected to advance to the finalist level to earn one of 2,500 National Merit Scholarships for $2,500 each.

To become a finalist, a semifinalist must submit an application, write an essay, and have an outstanding academic record.

About 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarships will also be awarded.

National Merit Scholarship recipients will be announced between April and July in 2016.
