Wayne High Schoolers Assemble Bikes For Younger Students

Students in the schools' Automotive Technology Program put the bikes together, which will be given to elementary-school students.

WAYNE, N.J. — Students in the district's high school Automotive Technology Program recently assembled bicycles that will be given to elementary school students in time for Christmas.

Students in the joint program between Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley assembled the bikes under the supervision of teaches Steve Hopper and Ken Bergen. It is the second year the students have performed the service.

The Wayne Education Association, the district's teachers union, purchased the bicycles.

"To see staff and students working together to brighten the holidays for others is priceless," said Eda Ferrante, WEA president. "The Automotive Technology students get such a kick out of assembling the bikes knowing they are going to help out younger kids. They take such pride in assembling them."
