Event proceeds will help with costs for national competition.

The gyms and hallways of Wayne Valley High School were filled with the sounds of laughter, chants, claps and stomps Sunday for the fourthannual cheer competition.

The event is hosted by the Wayne Valley competition cheer team, and the proceeds will help defray the costs of attending the national competition later this week.

"We have about 60 teams and around 700 girls competing today," said Wayne Valley cheerleading coach Jennifer Pulizzano. "Every year this gets bigger and bigger, we are trying to fit everyone in. The money that is raised helps the girls go to Nationals. We leave for Disney on Thursday."
