Wayne Holiday Festivities Continue Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

The Christmas tree will be lit Thursday evening, while the menorah will be lit Dec. 15. Here's what to know.

WAYNE, NJ — Township traditions like a Christmas tree and menorah lighting can bring a sense of normalcy to a year that's been anything but. In some places across the state, those events have been canceled or altered, but in Wayne, they continue.

Scheduled for Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m., the town will host Christmas tree lighting festivities at the Municipal Building, 475 Valley Rd.

Mayor Christopher Vergano is slated to speak beginning at 7:05 p.m., immediately followed by the lighting itself.

Santa Claus will also be in attendance, taking socially distanced photos with attendees from 7:15 to 8 p.m.

Then, on Dec. 15, the township will host a menorah lighting at the Municipal Building, beginning at 7 p.m.

Vergano will be joined by community leaders and local dignitaries at both events, according to news releases by the township recreation department.
