Wayne Little League Team Is Champs, Moves On To State Tournament

The town's 12U All-Stars will play for the New Jersey State Championship next week.

WAYNE, NJ — Maybe this is their year.

The Wayne Little League 12U All-Stars are Section 1 champions and have clinched a berth in the New Jersey State Little League Championship tournament next week.

The team will compete against three other teams for the right to represent New Jersey in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in Connecticut. Teams in that tournament come from New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Delaware.

The winner of that tournament will compete in the National Championship tournament. That winner will play against the international winner for the Little League World Series championship.

A team from Wayne won the Little Little World Series championship in 1970.
