Wayne Man's App Has Students Helping Students

John Rhondi got the idea for his Stunited app after a friend helped him with a term paper and he helped her study for a math test.

WAYNE, NJ — For math students who need help writing term papers and vise versa, a township man has made an app for that.

John Rondi created the Stunited social media app to bring students who need help, and those who want to help others, with any subject.

Rondi, a Wayne Valley High School alumnus, was a sophomore at Rowan University when he was struggling writing an essay. That's when he decided to enlist the help of friend down the hall.

"I knew I could use the help from someone who was pretty good at writing," Rondi said. "She helped me with my paper and I helped her study for an algebra exam. It worked out."

That's when Rondi got the idea to create his app.

"A lightbulb went off to make what I did easier," Rondi said. "I wanted to bring people together who may not be good at something with people who are so they can get the help they need. I just want to make it easier for people to connect."

Rondi started developing Stunited in 2016 and it went live last year. The app is free to download and use. Stunited is available for Andriod and iOS devices.

Users create a profile or connect the app with their Facebook accounts. They fill in what subjects and topics they are good at and have the option to put what subjects they excel at. Users swipe right on profiles they like and swipe left on profiles they dislike. Students have the opportunity to chat and discuss how they can use their individual skill set to help one another.

"There's nothing out there that bridges the gap between academics and social media," said Rondi, who was graduated from Rowan earlier this year with a degree in finance. "With Stunited, you're interacting with students about education and about how you can practically meet each other's needs."
