Wayne Mom Births First 2022 Baby At St. Joseph's Hospitals
Baby Amira was born a few hours into the new year at St. Joseph's University Medical Center.

PATERSON, NJ — Say hello to one of Wayne's newest residents, and perhaps its youngest. When baby Amira was born, she became the first 2022 birth at St. Joseph's Health hospitals.
Khadijah, of Wayne, gave birth to Amira at 5:38 a.m. New Year's Day at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson. Amira weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces.

An estimated 371,504 babies were born on New Year's Day, including 10,312 in the United States, according to UNICEF. Fiji welcomes the first New Year's babies, while the United States welcomes the last each year.

With an average life expectancy of 82 years, many will ring in the 22nd century during their golden years.
One last fun fact: 2022's New Year's babies are the first to share George Jetson's birth year. The Jetsons' patriarch was born Aug. 22, 2022 — the show is set in 2062.
