Wayne Police Hiring Officers: See How To Apply
Wayne is accepting applications for new police officers, and has the Junior Police Academy coming up as well.
WAYNE, NJ — Interested in a career with the local police? The Wayne Police Department is now hiring, and invites people to apply for upcoming examinations.
Wayne Police are accepting applications for the entry test, which includes a background investigation, swim test, physical assessment, and a written and oral examination by the New Jersey Police Chief's Association. All applications must be submitted online through PoliceApp. The deadline is April 30 at 11:59 p.m.
The written exam will take place Wednesday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wayne PAL (1 PAL Drive Wayne, New Jersey 07470). The oral exam will take place either May 30 or 31, with location and time TBA, according to the application page.

The physical and swim test has not yet been scheduled. Anyone with questions about the exam can email policetest@waynetownship.com.
Applicants must be citizens of the U.S.A. and posses a high school graduation certificate or equivalent certificate, as well as a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education by June 30.

Applicants also must not have been convicted "of any crime of the first, second, third or fourth degree as designated by the Criminal Code of New Jersey, or a crime or felony offense in any jurisdiction that involved moral turpitude or, at the time of application, is undergoing or awaiting court action of any kind in regard to such a crime of felony offense."
Wayne Police have 124 sworn officers and serve 54,000 residents. The top pay for a patrol officer is $148,481 according to the department.
Police are also preparing for the Junior Police Academy, which takes place at Wayne Valley High School from Monday, June 26-Thursday, June 29. Wayne residents from ages 10-12 may apply, and applications are accepted beginning March 29, 2023 at 9 a.m. The academy fee is $75 made out to the Township of Wayne. Click here for more info.
