Wayne Police Hosting Opioid Overdose Prevention Seminars

Attendees will learn how to administer Narcan at the upcoming seminars.

WAYNE, NJ — Two seminars regarding opioid abuse and training on administering Narcan will be held in town soon.

The seminars will cover how to prevent and recognize opioid use, opioid overdoses, and how to administer Narcan, an over-the-counter antidote that can reverse the effects of heroin and some prescription painkillers. It is administered in a nasal spray.

The seminars are being run together with the Wayne Alliance for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, the township Social Services and Welfare Department, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and the police department.

The seminars will be at the library April 26 at 10 a.m. and May 7 at 6:30 p.m.
