Wayne Police Put Priority On Intoxicated Driving During Holidays

Wayne Police will dedicate additional resources toward intoxicated driving enforcement this holiday season, the department announced.

WAYNE, NJ — The Wayne Police Department will be participating in a statewide campaign to dedicate additional resources to enforcing the Driving While Intoxicated Laws, the department said in a Thursday news release.

Known as "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "If You Feel Different, You Drive Different – Drive High, Get a DUI" aims to educate the public about the dangers of driving drunk and high, the department said.

For area drivers it also means increased patrols this holiday season.

Throughout the month of December and through the New Year holiday season, law enforcement officers will engage in "highly visible enforcement, targeted at detecting and apprehending impaired drivers to make the roadways safer for everyone," the department said.

Other towns in Passaic County will be amping up patrols to end the year as well, and some recently received state funding for their efforts.
