Wayne Principal Recognized As 'Exemplary' Educator

Dr. Lydia Cooper was honored by the state Department of Education recently.

WAYNE, N.J. — A township assistant principal has been honored as an "exemplary" educator by the state Department of Education.

Lydia Cooper has had "a positive impact on our Wayne Township Public Schools students colleagues, and community," said Superintendent Mark Toback.

In her three years with the district, Cooper, a "teacher of teachers," has implemented several professional development programs at the Wayne Township Learning Center. She was also helped develop the district's new kindergarten wrap program.

Cooper also conducts educational research regarding the social and emotional development of gifted and talented students. She also completed a study to determine the effectiveness of various assessments with accurately capturing student learning.
