Wayne Professor Receives Prestigious Fellowship
Stephanie Rivera Berruz, a philosophy professor at William Paterson University, is just 1 of 30 faculty members in the U.S. to be honored.

WAYNE, NJ — A William Paterson University philosophy professor is just one of 30 college professors across the country to receive a fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson Foundation.
Stephanie Rivera Berruz, a native of Puerto Rico, joined the university in 2014. She specializes in Latin American philosophy, Latina feminism and the philosophy of race, gender and sexuality.
“Ultimately, my identity as a scholar revolves around making philosophy a more diverse space with the hope that when Latinx people or people of color more generally arrive at our discipline they see themselves represented and reflected as part of the field,” Berruz said in a statement.
