Wayne Public Library Closes Amid Coronavirus Spike

Starting Wednesday, the library will return to door-side pickup only. Regular operations are set to resume later this month, officials said.

WAYNE, NJ — The Wayne Public Library will be closed for indoor services starting Wednesday, library officials announced this week.

In a post on Facebook, and on the library website, officials said they would shift to door-side pickup only. Regular operations are scheduled to resume Jan. 24.

Staff will be available during the library's full operating hours beginning Monday, officials said.

Though there was no specific reason given for the shift, the decisions comes after a spike in coronavirus cases happened in Wayne first in November, then nearly doubling during the month of December.

Recently, Mayor Christopher Vergano reported that new coronavirus cases cleared 1,000 during the month of December.
