Wayne Reports 200th Coronavirus Death, Over 1,500 Vaccinated

WAYNE, NJ — Wayne Township has reached 200 coronavirus deaths, a bleak milestone, announced Mayor Christopher Vergano.
"Very sad news, and our condolences go out to all the members of the families of those people that we have lost," Vergano said.
The Mayor recapped the COVID-19 developments in the month of January and spoke on vaccinations during a news conference Tuesday. Watch it below:

There were 1,012 new coronavirus cases in the township in January, an average of 32.64 new cases per day, Vergano said. The case number was actually down by four from December.
Only 549 new cases were reported in November, with 154 reported in October.

The township's vaccination center is still receiving a limited number of doses per week, usually 300, Vergano said.
Healthcare workers at that site have administered 1,513 doses as of Jan. 27, Vergano said. Here are the specific numbers from each day the site was open.
- Jan. 8 — 314 doses
- Jan. 12 — 38 doses
- Jan. 13 — 228 doses
- Jan. 14 — 19 doses
- Jan 20. — 454 doses
- Jan. 27 — 460 doses
