Wayne Republican Council Candidates Get GOP Org. Endorsement
Nearly all, 5 out of 6, ward council candidates running for re-election this year were endorsed by the county Republican organization.
WAYNE, NJ — Five of the six incumbent Township Council candidates received the endorsement of the Passaic County Regular Republican Organization (PCRRO).
The candidates are:
- Ward 1: Richard Jasterzbski
- Ward 2: Louis Avolio
- Ward 3: Franco Mazzei
- Ward 4: Joseph Scuralli
- Ward 5: Lucy "Aileen" Rivera
- Ward 6: Jonathan Ettman
All but Avolio are incumbents. Avolio is running against incumbent Councilman Al Sadowski in the June primary.

Avolio was the "overwhelming" choice of the PCRRO to run in Ward 2.

Avolio is a lifelong Wayne resident and the married father of three children. He is a commercial landscaper who owns Lou's Landscaping & Design. He is serving on the Planning Board and "will be a great asset to the residents of the second ward," the Wayne Regular Republican Organization said in a statement.
Jasterzbski has lived in Ward 1 since 1986. He has been on the council since 2013. According to the Wayne Regular Republican Organization, Jasterzbski works to make sure that property maintenance issues are addressed in his ward.
Mazzei has served on the council since 2012 and previously was a trustee of the Wayne Library Board and the Wayne Board of Education. His lives in the Packanack Lake section of town and was president of the Packanack Lake Community Association.
Scuralli is seeking re-election to a fifth term. He is a lifelong Wayne resident. He is an active leader with Boy Scout Troop 108 at Our Lady of the Valley. He is a dean for Berkeley College and was president of a family-owned plastic machinery manufacturing company.
Rivera is seeking re-election to a second term. She has lived in Wayne since 2009 with her husband Joe. She has been a board member of the Valley Terrace Condo Association in 2010. She has been an office manager for 29 years.
Ettman is seeking re-election to the Ward 6 council seat. He and his wife moved to Wayne more than 15 years ago. He coaches his daughters at the Wayne Police Athletic League and the Wayne Boys and Girls Club. He is a practicing attorney.
