Wayne Resident Joins Northwell Cancer Institute

Stacy Sanchez has been named Chief Nursing Officer at the Northwell Cancer Institute in New Hyde Park, New York.

NEW HYDE PARK, NY — Wayne Township resident Stacy Sanchez has been named the new Chief Nursing Officer of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute.

According to a news release from the institute, Sanchez, along with three others, have been recruited to "strengthen" the institutes' cancer care management, research and oncology surgery.

“We are laying the groundwork to create a survivorship program, bolster oncology nursing practice and initiatives, enhance the integration of clinical cancer research and advance surgical oncology,” said physician-in-chief and director of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute Richard Barakat, who is also the senior vice president of cancer services at Northwell Health.

According to the release, beginning June 15, Sanchez will oversee operation performance, fiscal strategy and the consistency of nursing practice throughout all the oncology sites at Northwell.

Prior to Northwell, Sanchez worked as the director of pediatric and critical care services, and interim director of acute care services at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Sanchez has also held clinical and administrative leadership roles in nursing, maternal child services and pediatrics at New York and New Jersey hospitals.

She earned her doctor of nursing practice from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ and master of business administration from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY.
