Wayne Schools Delayed, Clear Forecast Until Wednesday Night Snow
There's a chance of rain and snow Wednesday night into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

WAYNE, NJ — Wayne Township Public Schools opened on a 90-minute delay Tuesday morning. The forecast prompted several North Jersey school districts to delay openings.
The region may also get some rain and snow later this week.
Wayne will begin the school day at the following times Tuesday:

- high schools: 8:50 a.m.
- middle schools: 9:30 a.m.
- elementary schools: 10:25 a.m.
- preschool a.m.: 9:50 a.m.
- preschool p.m.: 12:45 p.m.
- before care opens at 8:45 a.m.

The National Weather Service warned that patchy black ice will likely stick to untreated roadways early Tuesday morning. Drivers should slow down and exercise caution wherever they go.

Wayne could also get some snow, beginning late Wednesday night and extending into Thursday before 1 p.m. Forecasters don't expect it to even reach a half-inch of accumulation, but the snow could mix with rain.
Here's the National Weather Service's forecast for Wayne as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday:
- Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
- Tuesday night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 21. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
- Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.
- Wednesday night: A chance of rain before 10pm, then rain and snow likely between 10pm and 4am, then snow likely after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Thursday: A 50 percent chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 26 by 5pm. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
- Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11.
