Wayne Schools Off, Township Services Running On Rosh Hashanah
As the Jewish New Year approaches, here's a reminder of what's open and closed.
WAYNE, NJ — It's almost time for Rosh Hashanah, and Jewish congregations and communities around Wayne are getting ready to welcome the New Year. Whether or not you celebrate, here's a reminder of what's open and closed during the holiday.
Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset Sunday and will culminate at nightfall on Tuesday. Wayne Public Schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
The township government will remain open Monday and Tuesday. Rosh Hashanah is also neither a state nor a federal holiday, so state and federal services remain open.

Rosh Hashanah — the Jewish New Year — represents the first of the Jewish High Holy Days. The year will become 5783 on the Hebrew calendar.
