Wayne Valley Football Team To Honor First Responders Tonight

2 flags will be hoisted over the field before the Indians' game.

WAYNE, NJ — The Wayne Valley varsity football team will honor first responders before its season opener tonight

The Indians will face off against Downingtown West at 7 p.m., but at 6:15 p.m., a ceremony will be held honoring first responders.

Two American flags will be hoisted over the field. Rick Ruggiero, father of sophomore Ricky Ruggiero, will lend a flag that was raised at the operating base in Afghanistan in 2011 on the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Another flag was designed just for the ceremony by the Wayne Valley Booster Club. The flag has different lines, blue, red and orange, honoring the police, fire department and the first aid squad, respectively. The club will present a $500 donation to each group and a plaque.
