Wayne Valley, Wayne Hills Graduation Date, Time Announced

The township has updated its modified graduation plans, which will follow social distancing requirements.

WAYNE, NJ — After a school year which involved remote learning due to a global pandemic, Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills seniors finally know when they'll graduate.

Wayne Township, which announced Monday that the township would be stepping in to facilitate the graduations, today announced dates and times for ceremonies at the two schools.

Wayne Valley's ceremony is scheduled for June 18 beginning at 6 p.m. Students should arrive at 5:15 p.m.

Wayne Hills will have a ceremony the following day, June 19, also beginning at 6 p.m. Students for that ceremony should also arrive at 5:15 p.m.

According to a news release, 350 chairs will be provided at the ceremonies, and will be placed as to adhere to social distancing requirements.

Parents will be limited to two guests per graduate, and the township is asking that they bring their own chairs to the ceremonies, which will be held in the municipal parking lot.

"We have agreed to step in and hold graduation ceremonies since the Board of Education is unable to due to the fact that the state-established guidelines make it virtually impossible to hold a meaningful graduation ceremony," said Vergano.

"We are acting in their place because we can and, the bottom line is our graduates, who have been working toward this day since kindergarten, deserve it."
