Wayne Woman, 78, Killed Crossing Street: Prosecutor

Breaking: Rosa Nikhamina, 78, was hit by a GMC Sierra pickup truck Monday afternoon, authorities said.

WAYNE, NJ — An elderly township woman was killed after she was hit by a truck while crossing the street Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Police responded to the intersection of Valley Road and MacDonald Drive at 12:24 p.m. in response to a pedestrian being hit, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.

Rosa Nikhamina, 78, was struck by a GMC Sierra pickup truck at the intersection. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson where she later died, Valdes said.

Authorities did not say what street Nikhamina was trying to cross.

The driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries and remained at the scene, the prosecutor said.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released once it is available, Valdes said.
