Wayne YMCA Hosts Jan. 10 Open House to Encourage Fitness New Year's Resolutions
Wayne Y to host 'Start Your Someday Today Open House' to inspire members and nonmembers to stick to their New Year's resolutions

Anyone who has ever made a New Year’s resolution to get fit but given up within weeks knows that a desire to succeed is not enough. The Wayne YMCA has joined a statewide Y effort to teach people strategies to stick to their health-improvement resolutions.
The Y will host the Start Your Someday Today Open House on Jan. 10 to inspire both members and nonmembers to get moving. Festivities include a session to sample fitness classes, a chance to work out with trainers, a family dance class, a family swim, plus prizes and giveaways. Valley Bank will offer a seminar on smart finances and guests are invited to bring food to donate to Interfaith Food Pantry.
Guests can stroll down the Resolution Red Carpet to a Selfie Station to share their 2015 resolution on social media as well as on the Y’s Resolution Wall.

“Putting your resolution in writing and proclaiming it to others are two ways to increase the likelihood you’ll follow through on it,’’ said Wayne YMCA Executive Director Justin Ihne. “Scheduling time each day for physical activity and building a support system are also effective strategies,’’ Ihne said.
As a community center, the Y fosters healthy lifestyles by making exercising fun and offering guidance for eating nutritiously. “We’re a community that supports individuals and families in reaching their goals,’’ Ihne said. The Y believes everyone deserves access to resources that help them achieve wellness and provides financial assistance to those who qualify.
