Promenade, Filling Vacant Shops: What Wayne Patch Readers Want For 2022

Wayne Patch asked readers what they'd like to see change or improve about the township in 2022. Here's their wish list.

WAYNE, NJ — While it may not be among Santa's responsibilities to improve township issues, it's still the time of year to make a wish list. Wayne Patch asked readers what they'd like to see change or improve about the township in 2022.

Wishes included filling vacant businesses, a promenade and better internet infrastructure. Here were some of the responses Patch received:

"Fill all the empty stores with new, unique food places and shops," wrote Dawn Giordano Dellechiaie. "Create a Promenade shopping area with places to sit outside or walk around, maybe an area for seasonal activities/shows (like the Promenade Shops in Clifton). Offer incentives to business owners to come to Wayne! Also would be cool to have some sort of collaborative between our schools and our nursing homes, connecting our kids and elderly citizens in activities and things, could be very enriching for all involved (not possible now with Covid, but maybe something to think about in the future)."

"Better/more road repairs and line painting," said Joseph D'Imperio. "The town throws down some asphalt patch that lasts only 2 or 3 winters."

"Stop and/or deter 'hot rods' from racing the streets, up & down route 23 and other major thoroughfares," said Ray Man. "A concerted effort or task force is needed."

"I would like a plan for a real downtown area with shopping and restaurants," said Jamie Burr.

"Broadened Fiber optic internet infrastructure," said Anthony Calderaro. "My neighborhood has only one legitimate option for internet service and has no real competitors."
