William Paterson University Hosting Oct. 18 Gubernatorial Debate

The debate will be broadcast on CBS, channel 2.

WAYNE, NJ — William Paterson University will host the second gubernatorial debate between Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Democrat Phil Murphy.

The debate is Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the university's Shea Center for Performing Arts. The first debate is Oct. 10 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

The university is hosting the event along with its media partners, WCBS broadcast affiliates in New York and Philadelphia and The Record/USA Today Network.

The university was selected in a competitive process that included 11 other proposals for the gubernatorial debates and one lieutenant governor's debate.

“This is a great honor for our University,” says President Kathleen Waldron. “We are pleased to again play a significant role in our state’s electoral public affairs.”

The university hosted gubernatorial debates in 1997, 2009 and 2013.

Kristine Johnson, co-anchor of WCBS-TV in New York, will moderate the debate. The media panel will also include Jessica Dean, co-anchor of WKYW-TV in Philadelphia, and Alfred Doblin, the editorial page editor for The Record.

CBS 2 will broadcast the debate on television and WINS Radio 1010 will air it on radio.
