William Paterson University Professor Nominated For Grammy Award
Bill Charlap, an acclaimed pianist and director of the school's Jazz Studies program, won a 2016 Grammy Award.

WAYNE, NJ — A township professor has been nominated for a 2017 Grammy Award.
Bill Charlap and his band, the Bill Charlap Trio, is up for the award in the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category.
Charlap won the 2016 Grammy Award for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his collaboration with Tony Bennett, "The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern." This year's nominated album is his fourth collaboration with Bennett.

Charlap was previously nominated for his recordings, "Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein" and "The Bill Charlap Trio: Live at the Village Vanguard."
Charlap is known for his interpretation of American pop songs and has recorded albums featuring the music of Hoagy Carmichael, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin.
