Young Soccer Program will be Offered Next Month

The Wayne Soccer Club is hosting a developmental program for children.

The camp is run by the New York Red Bulls, a Major League Soccer team.

More than 150 kids participated in the spring session that was held earlier this year.

“We want to make the program very community oriented,” said Jamie Meek, a Red Bull employee who runs the program. “We had such a great turnout in the Spring we wanted to offer it again.”

Offering the camp goes along with a strategy Meek said is becoming more popular among young athletes.

“Now kids play one sport all year around. The idea with the program is to get kids involved with a club team at a younger age,” Meek said. “Parents are looking to get their kids into more specialized programs.”

Several age-appropriate programs for kids 3 to 8 years old will be offered. The programs will be held the first week of September. The programs cost either $60 to $65.
