2,983 Flags Honor 9/11 Victims In West Windsor For 25th Anniversary

WEST WINDSOR, NJ — A field of 2,983 flags is standing in West Windsor to honor those lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Mr. Coburn of High School South and his students spent hours Tuesday and Wednesday creating the display, according to a township announcement.

The flags were placed ahead of West Windsor's 25th-Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Twin Ponds 9/11 Memorial within the Ronald R. Rogers Arboretum, at Clarksville Road and Route 571.

The ceremony will include the official rededication of the Twin Ponds memorial and the debut of a new monument feature funded by American Legion Princeton Post 76, according to the township's Sept. 1 announcement.

The township had previously announced that students from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South would help install the 2,983 flags as part of the anniversary tribute.

West Windsor is inviting residents, families and neighbors to attend Friday's ceremony to "remember, honor, and reflect."

The display gives residents a visible local tribute marking 25 years since the attacks while connecting students with the community's remembrance.
