WEST WINDSOR, NJ — A West Windsor student's Eagle Scout project is giving residents more places to access free food around the clock.
Arnav Anand, a rising senior at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South and member of Scouting America Troop 40, installed two Little Free Food Pantries, according to West Windsor Township.
The project added a pantry at the West Windsor Senior Center and replaced one at the West Windsor Arts Center. Together with an existing pantry at Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church, 154 South Mill Road, there are now three locations.
The Little Free Food Pantries can be found at the West Windsor Senior Center, 271 Clarksville Road; West Windsor Arts Center, 952 Alexander Road; and Dutch Neck Presbyterian Church.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 13 marked the official dedication of the two Little Free Food Pantries. Mayor Hemant Marathe, members of the Township Council, representatives from SHuP WW-P and the West Windsor Arts Center, Troop 40 leaders and Scouts, and volunteers from SHuP WW-P and Gratitude & Abundance attended the celebration.
"I chose this project because I know that food insecurity affects many people — not only across our country, but also here in our own community," Anand said in the township's announcement.
The project was completed in partnership with Send Hunger Packing West Windsor-Plainsboro. Residents can donate unexpired, non-perishable food to the pantries.
