Man Killed After Car Strikes Tree On Route 1 In Mercer County: PD
The man's car went airborne after striking the road divider and another car Monday night, West Windsor police said.

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ - A 32-year-old Plainsboro man was killed in a 2-car crash in which his car was sent roof first into a tree on Route 1 in West Windsor Monday night, according to police.
The man was driving a gray 2008 Infiniti G35 north on Route 1 approaching The Square at West Windsor at about 9:33 p.m. Monday night, West Windsor police said.
His car struck the concrete traffic divider/barrier before going into the center lane and striking a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 29-year-old North Brunswick man in the same direction, police said.

The Infiniti struck the back corner of the Hyundai, sending it sliding nose first into the traffic barrier, police said. The Infiniti went off the road to the right, striking a PSE&G utility pole and becoming airborne and tilted. As a result, it struck a tree roof first.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene. His identity was not released Tuesday morning, pending notification of next-of-kin. The driver of the Hyundai and his wife, who was a passenger in the car, were not injured, police said.

Route 1 north was closed between Quakerbridge Road and Meadow Road for just over three hours Monday night while police investigated the scene. PSE&G was repairing the utility pole, which broke in the accident, throughout the night.
