INJURIES: Driver #1 sustained a serious head injury. Driver #2 sustained minor lower extremity injury and head injury.

DETAILS: On June 25, 2020, Patrol Units were detailed to US Route 1 North at Fisher Place for a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash where the initial investigation revealed the following: Vehicle #1, a 2014 Freightliner Tractor Trailer, was traveling North on US Route 1 and approaching a red traffic signal at the Fisher Place intersection. Vehicle #2, a 2013 Toyota Tacoma, was traveling in the jughandle of US Route 1 South for Fisher Place and had a green traffic signal to cross US Route 1.

As the Toyota crossed US Route 1, the Freightliner continued into the intersection where it struck the Toyota. The Freightliner then left the roadway took down a Traffic Signal and struck a utility pole causing live wires to fall. The Freightliner re-entered the roadway and came to a final uncontrolled rest after striking the center concrete barrier of US Route 1.

Upon Patrol Units arrival, Driver #1 was found to be unconscious. Driver #1 was subsequently transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center Trauma. Driver #2 was transported to Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center.

Both Vehicles #1 and #2 sustained severe damage. US Route 1 North was closed for over (4) Hours as a result of the substantial damage, the investigation, and the downed live wires. The Lead Investigator is Traffic Officer Sabatino under the direction of Traffic Sgt. Bal.
