Bullet Fired Into Bedroom At West Windsor Apartment, Man Charged

WEST WINDSOR, NJ — A 28-year-old West Windsor man has been charged after a shot was fired through the bedroom window of an occupied apartment at Freedom Village on Sept. 11, police said Monday.

Semaje Dreon Glanton was arrested the morning of Sept. 18 and charged with weapons offenses, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, possession of a firearm without a serial number, possession of hollow-point bullets and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. No one was injured in the shooting.

Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Sept. 11 to a report of a shooting at the complex. The victim, who was in the apartment in the 200 building, told police they heard a loud bang and then saw that a projectile had come through the bedroom window and struck the ceiling above the bed.

Detectives recovered a 9mm shell casing from a wooded area near the apartment, police said. Over the next week, they reviewed hours of surveillance footage from multiple locations and followed up on leads to build a timeline and identify a suspect. Police said the evidence led detectives to conclude that the shooting was deliberate.

Police said they withheld information while the investigation was active to protect its integrity.

On Sept. 18, detectives and the Mercer County Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 600 building of Freedom Village and recovered evidence related to the case, police said. Detectives had also obtained an arrest warrant for Glanton, who was taken into custody without incident.

Glanton was taken to the Mercer County Correctional Facility, where he is being held pending a court appearance, police said.
