Teen Hit By Car, Hospitalized In West Windsor: Police

He was hit while crossing Clarksville Road near the Windsor Athletic Center Tuesday night.

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in West Windsor Tuesday night, according to township police.

The boy, who was not identified by police Wednesday afternoon, was struck by a 2011 Acura MDX while he was running across Clarksville Road. The driver of the car was only identified as a 40-year-old man from Plainsboro. He had two children with him in the car at the time of the accident, which was after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy was running from Raven Boulevard in the Princeton Terrace Apartments toward the Windsor Athletic Center when he was hit by the car, which was traveling south on Clarksville Road toward the entrance to the athletic center, police said. Another car was traveling north on Clarksville Road toward Raven Boulevard at the same time. That car was preparing to turn right into the Princeton Terrace Apartment Complex.

The boy, who was wearing a beige sweatshirt and black sweatpants at the time, didn’t use the crosswalk or follow the fully functional Pedestrian Crossing Signal designated for persons wanting to cross Clarksville Road, police said. The boy was taken to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center with serious, non-life threatening injuries to his head/face/shoulder/torso areas, according to the West Windsor Police Department.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and no charges had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon. West Windsor Traffic Officer F. Members of West Windsor Police Department, Station #45 and MICU attended to the victim at the scene. West Windsor police Traffic, Detective & Administration Divisions, and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office SCRT responded to the scene.
