INCIDENT: 2020-9158 Shoplifting

Suspect: White male, 43 years of age
Resident of Trenton, NJ 08619

DETAILS: Patrol units were detailed to the Home Depot for a shoplifting. Prior to the arrival of patrol, Asset Protection had already detained the suspect. Investigation determined that the suspect placed $367.00 worth of merchandise from the Tool and Electrical aisle(s) into a bucket, then walked out of the store through a fire exit in the garden center. The stolen merchandise was recovered by the store and the suspect was released from the scene pending future charges.

Suspect: Asian male, 18 years of age
Resident of West Windsor, NJ 08550

DETAILS: Patrol units responded to the Princeton Chase neighborhood for a suspicious blue Cadillac parked in the dead-end portion of Springhill Dr. that reportedly had frequent exchanges with people in other vehicles. During the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of a clear plastic bag containing marijuana, three packages of tobacco cigars, and two fraudulent driver’s licenses. The suspect’s real driver’s license was found to be suspended so his vehicle was impounded. The suspect was released from the scene pending future charges. A 17 year old juvenile male who was a passenger in the vehicle was driven home and released to his mother.

DETAILS: Patrol units were detailed to the Target store for a defiant trespasser who was actively shoplifting. Ptl. Knox first met with store Assets Protection in their office. They advised him that Clifton Owens, who had been previously served with a “No Trespass Order”, was observed to have concealed printer ink cartridges under his clothing. After Owens walked past all points of sale without paying, Ptl. Knox left the office and approached Owens who immediately ran away from him and out of the store. Detective Van Ness who was working security at Wegmans at the time responded to offer assistance. Both officers converged on Owens in the parking lot, and when they attempted to arrest him he struggled with them. After he was taken into custody, they approached the white Mercedes-Benz sedan he arrived in. Inside the vehicle was James Womack who was found to have a warrant for his arrest from Camden County. Owens and Womack were processed at WWPD Headquarters. Owens was released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court. Womack was transported to the Mercer County Correction Center for the outstanding warrant.

OFFICER: Ptl. F. Zicha #596 & K9 Hodge

WHO: (ARRESTED, INJURED, DRIVER, VICTIM, OTHER)
Accused: Nikhil K. Kumar, Asian male, 21 years of age
Resident of West Windsor, NJ 08550

DETAILS: Ptl. Zicha was on patrol of the Princeton Ivy neighborhood when he noticed a black BMW sedan stopped next to a walking path. Despite the path being closed due to power line construction, a passenger exited and jogged onto it. Ptl. Zicha stopped to investigate and called the jogger back. Investigation determined that Nikhil Kumar was in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana which was in a zip-loc bag which he abandoned along the walking path. Kumar also provided a false name and date of birth to police officers. Kumar was released from the scene. Charges were prepared at WWPD Headquarters and Kumar has a future date in West Windsor Municipal Court.

INCIDENT: 2020-9919 Burglary (Vehicle), Theft, & Criminal Mischief

DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 4/22/20 at 11:55 AM

LOCATION OCCURRED: 731 Alexander Rd. – Parking Lot

OFFICER: Ptl. S. Van Ness #598

DETAILS: Ptl. Van Ness was detailed to a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of 731 Alexander Rd. According to a witness, two Hispanic males in an older gray Honda Civic drove up next to the victim’s parked BMW sedan. The two males got out of their car and started looking inside of the BMW. One of the males then started hitting the window and the car alarm went off. The suspects then got into their car and fled the area. Investigation determined that they had smashed the passenger side window of the BMW, reached inside and stole a black nylon bag containing professional items.

Suspect: Black male, 29 years of age

DETAILS: Patrol units responded to the Lowe’s store for a shoplifting. Investigation determined the following: The suspect selected four DeWalt brand power tools and placed them into his cart. While in another section of the store, he placed the tools into shopping bags, and walked past all points of sale carrying the bags. Asset Protection confronted the suspect but he ignored them and continued walking out of the store. Ptl. Van Ness located the suspect walking along Route 1 carrying the stolen merchandise and detained him. The suspect was identified and found to have several warrants for his arrest from Trenton, Ewing, and Pennsauken. The suspect was released from the scene pending future Court dates in Trenton, Ewing, and Pennsauken. The stolen property valued at $486.00 was returned to the store.

DETAILS: Ptl. Erkoboni was detailed to a burglary of a storage trailer. Investigation determined that unknown actor(s) cut the padlock securing a storage trailer and stole four (4) 1,000 foot rolls of red metal clad cable which were on wooden spools. The stolen cable was valued at $1,280.00.
