INCIDENT: 2020-11926 Burglary (Residential), Theft, & Criminal Mischief
DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 5/28/20 between 7:15 AM – 5:30 PM
LOCATION OCCURRED: Residence on Cranbury Rd.

DETAILS: Patrol units were detailed to a home on Cranbury Rd. for a burglary. Investigation determined that unknown suspect(s) had forced entry through the front door causing damage to door and frame. Once inside, drawers and bedrooms were rummaged through, and jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom. Det. Van Ness processed the scene for evidence.

INCIDENT: 2020-12350 Burglary (Vehicle) & Theft
DATE & TIME OCCURRED: 6/03/20 between 1 PM – 1:09 PM
LOCATION OCCURRED: U.S. Post Office parking lot, 213 Carnegie Center

DETAILS: Ptl. Knox investigated a theft from a vehicle that was parked at the Post Office. The victim had left her vehicle unlocked while she went inside the post office to conduct business. While she was away, someone entered her vehicle and stole her backpack which contained a laptop computer and a Yeti water bottle.

LOCATION OCCURRED: Lowes, 3504 U.S. Route 1

Accused: Mohamed M. Zakaria – Resident of Hamilton, NJ 08690
DETAILS: Ptl. Knox was detailed to the Lowes for a shoplifter being detained by store Loss Prevention. Investigation determined the following: On 6/01/20, Mohamed Zakaria purchased a window air conditioner and put it in his car. He then re-entered the store, selected the exact same air conditioner, and pushed it out to his car without paying for it. He then went back to the store with one of the air conditioners and returned it for a full refund. Before he left the store, he selected a power washer, and pushed it out of the store without paying for it. Zakaria returned to the store on 6/03/20, selected a DeWalt brand power saw, paid for it, and put it in his car. He then returned to the store selected the exact same power saw and left the store without paying for it. Store Loss Prevention personnel confronted Zakaria and detained him until police arrival. After Zakaria was identified, he was released from the scene. At WWPD Headquarters, charges were prepared and signed against Zakaria for shoplifting. The complaint was mailed to Zakaria who has a date pending at Mercer County Superior Court.

REPORTING OFFICER: Ptl. S. Van Ness #598
DETAILS: Ptl. S. Van Ness was detailed to the Windsor Farm for criminal mischief. Investigation determined that perpetrators had spray painted graffiti on Halloween displays and props with curse words, phallic symbols, and random things words and numbers. Pipe fittings were also missing and believed to have been tossed into a nearby stream.

LOCATION OCCURRED: Apartment in Windsor Woods.

DETAILS: Ptl. Knox investigated a theft by deception where the following was reported: In December of 2019, the victim met someone online through a dating site. She began on online relationship with the suspect who claimed that he was in the Air Force and stationed overseas in Turkey. Over the course of several months, she wired him a total of $15,000 to supposedly help him and his mother with expenses. After conducting her own online investigation, she realized she was being scammed.

LOCATION OCCURRED: Clarion Hotel, 3499 U.S. Route 1
WHO: (ARRESTED, INJURED, DRIVER, VICTIM, OTHER)
Arrested: Raymond E. Edness – Resident of Mount Holly, NJ 08060
OFFICER: Ptl. A. Robles #5106
DETAILS: Patrol units were detailed to the Clarion Hotel on the report of a male who had a handgun in his waistband. Ptl. Robles located a male fitting the description provided by the caller. The suspect, identified as Raymond Edness, was stopped and detained. During the investigation Edness was found to be in possession of heroin and a cylindrical device used for smoking marijuana. No gun was found on Edness, who was determined to be a fugitive that was “Wanted” by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department, and to have a warrant for his arrest out of Blackwood, NJ. Edness was processed at WWPD Headquarters and transported to the Mercer County Workhouse.

Arrested: Louis W. Capone – Resident of Basking Ridge, NJ 07920
OFFICER: Ptl. K. LaForge #5104
DETAILS: Patrol units responded to a several calls to 9-1-1 coming from a cell phone at the Clarion Hotel. During one of the calls, a room number was provided. Officers investigated and found Louis Capone in the room. Capone was highly intoxicated and found to be in possession of cocaine and plastic straws with cocaine residue. Capone was processed at WWPD Headquarters and released pending a future date at Mercer County Superior Court.

LOCATION OCCURRED: Extended Stay, 3450 U.S. Route 1

WHO: (ARRESTED, INJURED, DRIVER, VICTIM, OTHER)
Accused: Kevin M. Miller – Resident of Monroe, NJ 08831
DETAILS: Patrol units were detailed to the Extended Stay hotel for a suspicious Jeep SUV whose occupants were outside their vehicle looking into other cars using the lights on their cell phones. As Ptl. De Blasio was driving into the hotel parking lot, he observed the Jeep and its occupants as they drove past him to exit. He turned around to follow the vehicle as it sped onto U.S. Route 1. The vehicle was traveling in excess of the speed limit, and when Ptl. De Blasio activated his emergency lights and siren to stop the vehicle, it not only failed to stop but only went faster and eventually through several red traffic signals. The vehicle’s license plate was obtained, and through further investigation, Kevin Miller was determined to be the driver. A warrant was prepared charging Miller with Eluding.

Accused: Edgardo J. Acuna – Resident of Trenton, NJ 08611
OFFICER: Ptl. B. Heath #5103

DETAILS: Ptl. Heath was detailed to Walmart for a shoplifting where the following occurred: A male was observed by Asset Protection selecting a large duffel bag, and then putting a Dyson vacuum cleaner into it. As the suspect was exiting the store without paying for the items, store Asset Protection attempted to detain him, but he ran away into the parking lot where he was picked up by a silver sedan. Det. W. Jones followed up the investigation the next day, and was able to identify the suspect as Edgardo J. Acuna. Det. W. Jones prepared a complaint charging Acuna with shoplifting, and he has a future date pending in West Windsor Municipal Court.
