West Windsor Ranked Among Top School Districts In NJ

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — The West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional Public School District dropped in the latest school rankings released by data compiler Niche, but remains among the top districts in the entire state.

The district is ranked No. 11 in the state in the rankings for the 2019-2020 school year, released Monday as part of the website's 2020 K-12 rankings. Last year, it was ranked No. 3.

Each New Jersey district received a letter grade in the following categories: Academics; Diversity; Teachers; College Prep; Clubs & Activities; Health & Safety; Administration; Sports; Food; and Resources & Facilities.

The West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional Public School District earned an overall grade of A+. It received an A+ for academics, college prep and health & safety; an A for teachers; an A- for clubs & activities; and a B for diversity.

It is the second highest ranked school district in Mercer County, behind Princeton. Princeton is the top school district in the entire state.

According to Niche, the district has 9,492 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13 to 1. According to state test scores, 74 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 81 percent in reading.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)

According to Niche, the Glenbrook High Schools District 225 in Illinois is the best school district in the country overall.

With an overall Niche grade of A+, the district received a grade of A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college prep and health and safety. In the category of diversity, Niche awarded the school district a B.
